The Brant Historical Society is taking its show on the road in an effort to educate local residents about their past. The Women in War travelling exhibit will make a new stop each day – at Myrtleville House Museum (Feb. 20), Brantford tourism centre (Feb. 21), Brantford Public Library (Feb. 22), the Sanderson Centre (Feb. 23) and city hall (Feb. 24) during Heritage Week.

The portable displays highlight local women’s contribution to the First World War effort. It’s the second touring exhibit – last year the history of four Brantford manufacturing companies was featured – produced by the historical society.

“The idea of these pop-up travelling exhibits is to make them small and compact so they can be set up in half an hour,” said Nathan Etherington, program and community co-ordinator for the Brant Historical Society. “We are trying our best to do as many things as possible to get people involved in the history of their community.”

Etherington said he eventually wants to produce two travelling exhibits a year.

Etherington said the Women in War travelling exhibit will be followed, in May, by a Brant Historical Society exhibit called HERitage, which will include stories documented by local women.
